Note

The pattern was created in the context of the Kasli Foundry’s participation in the 1900 Paris Exposition. The modern replica made using the Kasli Foundry pattern of the mid-20th century. Pattern of the sculpture “Russia” by N. A. Laveretsky and its iron casting were first produced in 1896 for participation of the Kasli Foundry in the All-Russia Industrial and Art Exhibition 1896 in Nizhny Novgorod as one of the metallurgical enterprises of the Kyshtym Mountain Discrict. This pattern was cast in iron for the second time in 1900 for exposition at the Exposition Universelle in Paris, one of the participants of which was the Kasli Foundry. The allegorical sculpture “Russia” was placed in front of the main entrance to the famous Kasli Cast Iron Pavilion; the pavillion and the area beside it showcased artistic casting, mostly, indoor, interior and garden sculpture. The castings of the sculpture “Russia” produced for the 1896 and 1900 exhibitions, although seemingly visually similar, differ a little bit in the artwork of the pedestal and the general texture detalization. Nowadays, the sculpture “Russia” is just as politically and culturally important. At the contest of works of superb artistry with the depiction of Russia's national symbols conducted in 2002 by the Administrative Department of the President of the Russian Federation, the patinated bronze sculpture “Russia” produced by “LITUR” was awarded a medal and recognized as one of Russia’s modern national symbols. Nowadays, the enterprise manufactures the sculpture under private orders and casts it in bronze and cast iron in four sizes.
