Note
A French reduction made in the mid-19th century from the marble Roman copy of the bronze statue “Apollo” created in the mid-4th century BC by an ancient Greek sculptor Leochares. The marble statue of the Greek god Apollo shooting a bow was found between 1484 and 1492 at the villa of Roman emperor Nero in Anthia, near Rome. In 1506, during the reign of Pope Julius II, the statue was placed in the Belvedere garden in Vatican, and thus received its name of “Apollo Belvedere”.
