Note

The pattern was created at the Kasli Foundry. A unique cast iron casting with a dedicatory inscription produced to order in a single copy using a modern factory pattern inspired by earlier Kasli Foundry portfolio items. The souvenir composition is titled “The anniversary one” in the factory certificate. The item has a symbolic and allegorical characters and represents a reference to the Kasli group sculpture “A report of the factory workers” of 1931 which artistic solution is unique (kept in the collection of the Kasli History and Art Museum). This genre composition “An iron ore miner and a steel worker” uses two significant worker figures – an iron ore miner and a steel worker, the patterns of which entered the Kasli Foundry production in the 1920s. The creator of the patterns for these sculptures is Johann Friedrich Reusch (1843-1906) – a German sculptor, professor and after 1881 – professor of sculpture at the Kunstakademie Königsberg. The designer pattern of the “Iron ore miner” was created by J. F. Reusch in 1893, and the pattern of the “Steel worker” – in 1896. Currently, both patterns are available separately as sculptures or “figurines” and are listed as replica casting available for commission in the portfolio album “Casting of the Kasli Foundry for Architectural and Art Casting” published in 2011 (p. 84–85, N. No. 166 and 169, Fig. 166 and 169). The group sculpture is accompanied with a signature factory certificate which specifies the name of the molder of this casting – S. Tarasyuk.
